Project Overview:
Clear walkways are crucial for safety in high-traffic areas like RAF Leuchars. Properly marked paths reduce the risk of accidents by separating pedestrians from vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient movement. These markings also support safety regulations, creating a more organized and secure environment for all users.
The RAF Leuchars project involved removing and replacing a failed coating system with Flowcrete Deckshield ID-HD for improved durability. A key aspect was the installation of complex cross-hatching line markings for pedestrian walkways and vehicle aisles to enhance safety and operational efficiency. The project also addressed surface preparation, including grinding and shot blasting, to ensure the concrete substrate was properly prepped for the new resin overlay.
The resin coating system, Flowcrete Deckshield Rapide HD, was applied with a thickness of 3-4mm, and upstand details were formed to prevent water ponding at edges. Additionally, precise cross-hatching line markings were installed using Flowcrete QD Line Marker epoxy to clearly define pedestrian and vehicle zones. This required careful coordination to align the markings with existing traffic patterns and ensure compliance with safety standards.
The project was completed successfully, on schedule, and within budget, improving both safety and functionality at RAF Leuchars. The high-quality resin coating and precise line markings ensure long-term durability, while the upgrades enhanced traffic flow and pedestrian safety within the facility.
